Charlie Chaplin The Rink DVD

"Charlie Chaplin - The Rink" also featuring "The Floorwalker", "By The Sea" and "His Generation" DVD
The Rink - 1916 – Black & White. Both the fool and the hero, Chaplin stars in this chaotic film as both an incompetent waiter and the rather elegant Sir Cecil Seltzer. It is as this second character that Chaplin woos the leading lady at a skating party but continually runs into his life long arch rival, Mr Stout. Chaplin’s escape from the ensuing chaos is done with style, the help of his walking cane and a fast moving car! The Floorwalker - 1916 – Black & White. Based in a Department store, high farce ensues when Chaplin comes across a rogue Store Manager and his ‘Floorwalker’ who are robbing the store safe. With the money safely in the bag, all the baddies have to do is escape! Includes a classic version of the ‘running down the up-escalator’ gag and ends up with the Store Manager with his head stuck in a elevator door. By the Sea - 1915 – Black & White. As is often the case, peace and good behavour, this time by the seaside, do not last long as Chaplin slips on his own banana skin! The resulting struggle with a Drunk includes an ice cream fight and the involvement of innocent bystanders and the Police. Chaplin tries it on with a beautiful girl (or course!) and escapes when everyone else falls off a bench. His Generation - 1915 – Black & White. A very small comeo role for Chaplin in this film – he comes in, falls over and …….that’s it! It seems Chaplin’s involvement in this film was more to do with his business relationship with the leading actor, G.M. Anderson, than any real acting participation – it is possible Chaplin helped his friend with the direction of this tale.
