Based on a BBC pilot that initially starred Ronnie Barker, My Old Man is mainly about the generation gap between a grumpy, opinionated old man Sam Cobbett (Clive Dunn) who ends up living under the same roof as his daughter and son-in-law. Also starring Clive Dunn's wife Priscilla Morgan (as daughter Doris), Edward Hardwicke and Keith Chegwin. My Old Man was a hugely successful sitcom on Yorkshire Television between 1974 and 1975. Retired engine driver Sam has been forced from his terraced home in Ironmonger Row by the demolition men. When Sam needs a new home, an obvious resolution materializes in the shape of the spare room in his daughter's new high-rise flat. Sam has some rather strong opinions on how to live, and they're not often shared by his social-climbing son-in-law, Albert whom Sam takes delight in embarrassing at every chance.
