Turning being a snob into an art, The lady of the house, Hyacinth Buckett sets new levels! Unfortunately her surname, which is pronounced Bouquet, don’t you know and her family, don’t help. Her long suffering husband, Richard, keeps his head down and does his best to live with her domineering ways. But Hyacinth’s a termined lady, with one mission in life - to impress the neighbours! One of our best selling tv comedies, reduced in price too.

Another great sitcom written by Roy Clarke for the BBC this series is released by Universal on their playback label. Rated PG by the BBFC in the UK, this is fairly family friendly comedy. This set contains all 5 series and 4 Christmas specials, and has a total running time on 22h 08mins. It has an English soundtrack and English subtitles only. It is a region 2 release for UK, Europe, South Africa, and Japan.

The sitcom follows Hyacinth Bouquet who is obsessed with climbing the social ladder. She is always trying to impress and appear wealthy, despite being wedged between working class families. First shown in 1990, the series ran for 5 series and 44 episodes (including 4 specials) until 1995.

Another well made sitcom which is still as good today as was back in the 90's. The series could have influenced a number of households to copy the same protocol, as a few in my area appear to be in the same mould.

Was bought to make my wife laugh, which it certainly does. I even joke now and call my wife Hyacinth Bucket or Bouquet as she would like to be know (my wife spends too much time tidying the house). The box set contains all the series and Christmas specials which is good as we were looking for the episode when Hyacinth and Richard go on the cruise. Seems like only yesterday this series was on TV. A great series that is loved by many ladies, Patricia Routledge is just brilliant in this when Hyacinth picks up the phone and answers "The Bouquet residence lady of the house speaking". If you have never seen this series and are in need of some laughter give it a go.
